ECC scholarship deadline is March 1
Monday / February 15, 2016
With several generous scholarships available (including several that cover nearly an entire year’s worth of tuition and fees), the Ellsworth Community College student services staff reminds high school seniors that the scholarship application deadline of March 1 is coming up quickly.
“We have some incredibly generous scholarships available for specific degree programs, for special interest areas, and for a variety of other criteria,” explains Dr. Barb Klein, ECC Dean of Enrollment Services & Registrar. “The fact that ECC graduates have one of the lowest student debt loads in Iowa is certainly due to our generous scholarship packages. Students and parents are reminded that the deadline is fast approaching for those scholarships, and their applications will be welcomed. Our goal is to award all of those funds to as many deserving current and incoming ECC students as we possibly can … the money is available, but it does require an application!”
Among the noteworthy scholarships available to ECC students are the twelve (12) Robert and Arlene Hamilton Excellence in Agriculture Scholarships, worth $5,000 per year for students majoring in production agriculture, ag business, ag transfer, mobile service technology, precision agriculture, geographical information systems (GIS), animal science, farm management, swine management, or renewable energy technology.
The Ellsworth College Foundation works with donors to help establish scholarships and support program funds. The Foundation’s 125th Continuing the Vision Anniversary Campaign has several new scholarships that are being established over several years. Scholarships that have been completed through the campaign this year include the Anonymous Equine Scholarship Fund for sophomores in the Equestrian program; the Dorothy Chaplin Endowed Scholarship for Iowa residents with a 2.5 GPA enrolled in business or retail marketing; the D. Robert Lund Scholarship for sophomore Iowa students in pre-engineering or pre-electrical engineering career paths; and the Wilma, Ester & Elmer Meyer Endowed Scholarship awarded to students in production agriculture and nursing.
