IVCCD declares Week of Giving

The Iowa Valley Community College District Employee Engagement Committee has declared Dec. 3-7 as its Week of Giving. During the week, local community college employees and community members are encouraged to support one or more designated projects with donations. All donations will be directed to community college students and/or community charities.

The daily designated projects are as follows:

  • Monday, Dec. 3 – Coats for the Cold Drive. Drop off new or gently used coats, mittens, scarves or hats (any size) in the boxes located in the MCC or ECC libraries in Marshalltown and Iowa Falls or in the lobby at Iowa Valley Grinnell. Donations benefit MCC and ECC students and families in need as designated by MICA and the Salvation Army. Grinnell donations will be given to PALS, MICA or Poweshiek Christmas Share.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 4 – Pet Supply Drive. Drop off kitten, puppy, dog and/or cat food (wet and dry), cat litter (clay only), baking soda, bleach, or dish soap in the boxes located in the MCC or ECC libraries or in the lobby at Iowa Valley Grinnell. Donations benefit the Animal Rescue League in Marshalltown and the Greenbelt Humane Society in Iowa Falls. Grinnell donations will be given to PALS, MICA or Poweshiek Christmas Share.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 5 – Toy Drive. Bring an unwrapped toy to the Tiger room during the 7 pm MCC vs. ECC men’s basketball game in Marshalltown or drop off items in the boxes located in the MCC or ECC libraries or in the lobby at Iowa Valley Grinnell. Donations benefit families in need as designated by MICA and the Salvation Army. Grinnell donations will be given to PALS, MICA or Poweshiek Christmas Share.
  • Thursday, Dec. 6 – Tiger Vault & Panther Pantry Drive. Drop off personal hygiene/toiletry items or cleaning supplies in the boxes located in the MCC or ECC libraries or in the lobby at Iowa Valley Grinnell. Donations benefit students on both campuses. Grinnell donations will be given to PALS, MICA or Poweshiek Christmas Share.
  • Friday, Dec. 7 – Food Box Drive. Drop off non-perishable items in the boxes located in the MCC or ECC libraries or in the lobby at Iowa Valley Grinnell. Donations benefit the Emergency Food Box in Marshalltown and MICA in Iowa Falls. Grinnell donations will be given to PALS, MICA or Poweshiek Christmas Share.

Donations for any of these drives will be accepted all during the week at the ECC and MCC libraries and at the Iowa Valley Grinnell lobby. The ECC Library is located in Kruse Main Hall on the Ellsworth campus in Iowa Falls, and the MCC Library is located in room 304 on the Marshalltown campus. The Iowa Valley Grinnell campus is at 123 6th Ave. W in Grinnell.

Iowa Valley Community College District operates Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Marshalltown Community College, Iowa Valley Grinnell (a satellite campus of MCC), Iowa Valley Continuing Education, and the Orpheum Theater Center in Marshalltown.
