Nurse Aide Specialist
The Nurse Aide Specialist Certificate prepares students with knowledge and skills to begin a career in a health care field. Beginning with successful completion of a background check, Phase I meets federal regulations of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation (OBRA) Act of 1993. This program emphasizes the provision of safe, effective care for residents in long-term care. Upon completion of the first course, there is state testing available (at an additional cost) that qualifies for employment in long-term care and meets entrance requirements of ECC’s Practical Nursing (PN) program. Phase II emphasizes knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for providing care in the acute care setting. CPR/First Aid certification is a prerequisite for enrolling in Phase II.
