ECC celebrates Social Concerns Day

Hundreds of Ellsworth Community College students participated in a Red Cross Blood Drive, registered for the Iowa Marrow Donor Program, experienced the Fatal Vision Goggles drinking simulation, and learned about a variety of ECC, Iowa Falls and Hardin County agencies and services during the 2015 Social Concerns Day held this afternoon in the Dale Howard Activity Center.
Social Concerns Day is an annual ECC event designed to encourage engagement and involvement in the community and to raise awareness about agencies, services and issues that impact individuals and communities. The goals are simply to promote healthy lifestyles, raise awareness of social issues, and share opportunities for student volunteerism.
Local/Area participants included Allen Women’s Health, American Red Cross, Be The Match Iowa Marrow Donor Program, Crisis Intervention Services, ECC LGBTQ Support Group, ECC Panther Service Project, Ellsworth College Foundation/Calkins/PCAC, Hansen Family Hospital, Hardin County Auditor’s Office, Impact College Ministries/Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, Iowa Falls Police Department, Iowa National Guard, IVCCD Education Association, Lighthouse Center of Hope, McFarland Clinic, Mid-Iowa Community Action, Non-Traditional Student Group, Sam’s Club, Students Right For Life and Wings of Refuge.
