ECC Christmas Cabaret seeks table decorators

2015 table decor

Many ECC Christmas Cabaret “regulars” say the event is the perfect way to usher in the holidays … this photo was taken at last year’s concert.

Tickets are now on sale in the Ellsworth Community College Music Department for the sixth annual ECC Christmas Cabaret. The 2015 Cabaret will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Dale Howard Family Activity Center café.

“We are now looking for people who would like to decorate a table this year,” explains Anne Sherve-Ose, ECC music instructor. “One thing everyone loves about this event is that the Dale Howard café will be decorated by community members and college staff, who generously provide the use of their finest china and holiday ornaments. It’s a great way to support the arts, to support Ellsworth, and to usher in the holiday season! And those who decorate a table get a free ticket to the meal and concert!”

Sherve-Ose says the tables are set for eight, but two people can share two four-piece place settings if they prefer.

“Holiday dishes and décor are so beautiful, but individual pieces don’t really get seen much outside of the home,” says Sherve-Ose. “Our decorators come during the afternoon (prior to Cabaret) to decorate their tables and it’s just a fun and festive time. It’s definitely a great way to ‘get your money’s worth’ out of your holiday place settings!”

The concert portion of the Cabaret will feature music by the ECC Band and ECC Choir, along with selected small ensembles and soloists. Musical numbers will include traditional Christmas carols, new Christmas arrangements, and other holiday favorites. The dinner menu is still being developed.

Tickets are $18 per person, or two for $35; ticket availability is limited. To purchase tickets and/or volunteer to decorate a table, email Anne Sherve-Ose at or phone her at 641-648-8570. On campus, the Music Department is located in Kruse Main Hall, room 101.
