Ellsworth Community College sophomore Jaccie Kenyon of Alden is one of 18 students named to the fifth Iowa Corn Collegiate Advisory Team (CAT). Kenyon, an ECC Agriculture major, is the daughter of Herb and Jacqueline Kenyon. She is a 2015 graduate of Iowa Falls-Alden High School.

The Iowa Corn CAT is sponsored by the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB). The Iowa Corn CAT assists the ICGA and ICPB in developing programs that target and enhance Iowa Corn’s relationship with students who are pursuing careers in agricultural production, business, and the ag industry as a whole.

“Iowa Corn is very excited to work with these 18 bright students on ways we can cultivate and promote the industry,” says Don Hunerdosse, chair of the committee that oversees the team. “We look forward to hearing their ideas on how we can become more engaged.”

The new Iowa Corn CAT team includes 9 community college students, five state university students, and four private college students. The students were selected to the team for a one-year term.

Kenyon was one of four Ellsworth students selected this fall to receive Bob & Arlene Hamilton Agriculture Scholarships to attend Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls for the 2014-15 academic year. The scholarships, worth $5,000 each, are awarded to qualifying students entering one of ECC’s agriculture-related degree programs.
