Tuesday / November 17, 2015
Ellsworth Community College students Lane Vanderhart, Olivia Tym, Nichole Jones and Brittany Schumacher spoke about their academic preparation for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers when the University of Northern Iowa hosted a gathering of area high school STEM teachers and guidance counselors on the ECC campus this week. Vanderhart (from Knoxville), Tym (from Hubbard), and Jones (from Tama) are majoring in Conservation Technology; Schumacher, from Iowa Falls, is majoring in Pre-Medicine. ECC Math Faculty member Brent Ries helped coordinate the event, which included tours of the ECC Hamilton Campus; a career fair session about ECC’s Conservation Technology, Robotics and Agriculture initiatives; and the student panel discussion.
