Veterans Day program on Nov. 11

The public is invited to attend a Veterans Day program hosted by Ellsworth Community College on Friday, Nov. 11. At noon there will be a formal veteran’s recognition ceremony in the lobby of Kruse Main Hall with remarks by Sgt. 1st Class Eric Ramirez.
All area veterans and friends of the military are invited to join ECC students, faculty and staff at these events.
The recognition ceremony at noon will include recognition of all veterans in attendance, remarks by Sgt. Ramirez, a performance by the ECC Choir of “America the Beautiful” and the playing of “Taps.”
Veterans Day is an official federal holiday to honor all those who have served in the armed services. President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed Armistice Day in 1919; it was changed by Congress to Veterans Day in 1954.
