ECC will host Veterans Day program on Nov. 10

IOWA FALLS – The public is invited to attend a Veterans Day program hosted by Ellsworth Community College on Friday, Nov. 10. At noon there will be a formal veteran’s recognition ceremony in the lobby of Kruse Main Hall with remarks by CSM (Ret) Robert Warrington, an Iowa Falls resident who served the country for 30 years.

In 1987, Warrington enlisted in the Army, where he completed Infantry training and Airborne school. Among his many positions and ranks during his service, he served as a dismounted Team Leader in a mechanized Infantry Combat Team during Desert Storm and a Platoon Sergeant with Charlie Company during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

All area veterans and friends of the military are invited to join ECC students, faculty and staff at these events.

The recognition ceremony at noon will include recognition of all veterans in attendance and a performance by the ECC Band of “America the Beautiful” and “Taps.

Veterans Day is an official federal holiday to honor all those who have served in the armed services. President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed Armistice Day in 1919; it was changed by Congress to Veterans Day in 1954.
