Agribusiness
Agribusiness: The Business Side of Agriculture

Frequently Asked Questions
What is agribusiness?
Agribusiness is the business side of agriculture: buying and selling inputs and commodities,
financing operations, managing ag companies, and marketing farm products. The degree
combines agricultural science with business management.
What jobs can I get with an agribusiness degree?
Graduates work in ag sales, agronomy and feed sales, co-op and elevator management,
ag lending, grain merchandising, and farm operations management.
Does the program include internships?
Yes. The degree includes paid on-the-job internships with area ag employers, so you
build work experience and professional contacts while you study.
How is Agribusiness different from Ag Science or Farm Management?
Agribusiness focuses on the companies that serve agriculture: sales, finance, and
management. Agriculture Science gives a broad technical foundation and is the better
fit if you plan to transfer. Farm Management focuses on running your own or a family
operation.
Can I transfer to a four-year university?
The AAS prepares you to go to work after two years. If a bachelor's degree is your
goal, talk with an ECC ag advisor early; the Agriculture APS degree is designed for
transfer.
Do I need to have grown up on a farm?
No. A farm, 4-H, or FFA background helps, but the program teaches the agriculture
and business knowledge you need.
Where are classes held?
At Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. Ag classes meet in the Agriculture Building
on the Robert and Arlene Hamilton campus, just south of town.
How much does it cost?
Tuition and fees for 2026–27 are $243 per credit hour for Iowa residents. Paid internships help offset costs. File the FAFSA to see what grants and scholarships you qualify for.
