Broadcasting & Digital Media
Lights, Camera, Action
Broadcasting/Digital Media prepares you for on-air roles — television reporting, radio personality work — and behind-the-scenes production: camera operation, editing, producing, and directing. MCC's two-year AAS also covers corporate and online digital media content, so your training isn't limited to traditional TV and radio.
Step straight onto the sidelines with exclusive opportunities to partner with MCC Athletics. Gain hands-on production experience live-streaming athletic events and operating our digital Daktronics video board. You'll also take a Digital Film Production course—writing, shooting, and editing your own short film to be showcased at MCC's Student Film Festival held by students, for students.

What careers can graduates pursue?
Paths include on-air and production roles in TV/radio, corporate digital media, and video editing. Pay varies widely by market and role — BLS reports 2024 national medians of roughly $56,600/year for broadcast, sound, and video technicians and $70,570/year for film/video editors and camera operators combined, though those figures lean toward larger markets and often assume a bachelor's degree. Entry-level pay in Iowa and small/mid-size markets typically starts well below those medians.
What does it cost?
Standard IVCCD tuition: $217/credit hour for Iowa residents plus a $26 institutional fee.
