Construction: Learn Carpentry and Build a Residential Project

This program trains you for residential and light commercial construction. You learn the tools, equipment, techniques, and materials of the trade, then apply them by building a residential project in the lab.
Two credentials are available. The Construction Residential Practitioner Diploma focuses on carpentry, safety, and hands-on lab work.

The Construction Management AAS adds blueprint reading and estimating, soils and concrete, accounting, and entrepreneurship for students headed toward supervisory roles or their own contracting business.

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I learn in the Construction program?

Carpentry Levels I and II, construction safety, shop math, and two construction labs, applied to the actual construction of a residential project. The AAS adds blueprint reading and estimating, soils and concrete, construction materials, and business courses.

Can I continue to a two-year degree after the diploma?

Yes. The diploma is designed to transfer easily into the two-year associate degree.

Will I get hands-on experience?

Yes. Both credentials include construction lab courses. The diploma offers on-the-job training as an elective, and the AAS includes an internship.

What jobs can this lead to?
