Utility Technician: A 41-Credit Diploma for Electric and Gas Utility Work

Utility technicians work with the generation, distribution, and measurement of electricity and gas. The work takes mechanical aptitude, math, computer skills, comfort with electronic equipment, and the ability to read maps and schematics.

The Utility Technician Diploma builds those skills with courses in electronics, electrical theory, shop math, measuring tools, and customer service. You complete both general gas utility knowledge and advanced electrical theory, then choose an advanced technical skills course in either gas or electrical. The plan also includes an OSHA 10-Hour Utility Industry course and a Commercial Driver's License and Tools course.
