The MCC Student Ambassador Program is always looking for respectable, qualified students to assist the Admissions Office. MCC Ambassadors are an elite group of students carefully chosen to represent diverse degree programs, athletic involvements, and club/organization memberships. Ambassadors serve the College by supporting the recruiting efforts and routine affairs of the Admissions Office and other administrative offices as requested. The Ambassador program is scholarship-based; students can earn up to $1,600 a year.

Qualifications

Education: Ambassadors must be enrolled as full-time students at MCC.
Experience: Preference is given to those best qualified to work in a customer service environment.
Academics: Ambassadors must have a minimum 2.7 high school GPA. They must maintain regular class attendance and have a minimum 2.5 GPA at MCC.
Abilities:
- Able to work in an environment of shifting priorities, frequent interruptions, hectic pace, and interaction with students, staff, and/or the public.
- Working knowledge of computer software programs, including Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in business English, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Able to work independently and be a team player in completing assigned tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Enthusiastic desire to demonstrate MCC school spirit.

2026-27 Student Ambassadors

Ketsia Mulunda

Ketsia is a sophomore finance major. She has 6 siblings and enjoys drawing and dancing. She is from Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. “I chose MCC because it is a very welcoming place and diverse with students from all parts of the world. What I like best about MCC is the community involvement and welcoming environment. I chose my major because it is challenging and I like pushing myself out of my comfort zone. My advice to college students is to get out of your comfort zone and always try to be involved on campus and meet people.” Ketsia is also a Resident Assistant and HR student worker. She plans to transfer to a four-year college after finishing at MCC.

Neema Njenga

Neema is a freshman at MCC majoring in Elementary Education. Originally from Kansas, she moved to Marshalltown in 2023 and enjoys cheerleading and working with kids. “I chose MCC because it is close to home, and I was already able to take most of my degree classes here,” Neema says. “What I like best about MCC is that they offer so many clubs and activities to get involved in! I chose Education because I love working with kids. My advice to other students is to jump into things you're interested in.” After completing her degree at MCC, Neema plans to transfer to either UNI or the University of Kansas.

Emma Short

Emma is a sophomore studying nursing from Osceola, IA. Her hobbies include reading, singing, performance art, and hanging out with her cat. “I chose MCC because I love how close-knit the community is. You get far more one-on-one time with professors, interact more with other students, and it’s a very affordable option to consider,” Emma says. “The professors are so easy to get along with, and the students are respectful, creating a really calming atmosphere. I chose nursing because I love helping people and being a comforting presence when they are scared or in need. My advice to college students is to keep an open mind, don’t overdo it, ask for help when you need it, and remember to have fun!” After finishing at MCC, Emma plans to transfer to Mercy College to pursue their sonography program.

Jacen Wenger

Jacen is a freshman at MCC studying business management. He is the middle child of five siblings, and in his free time, he enjoys fishing, drawing, listening to music, and playing video games. “I chose MCC because I really like the community and esports program. Marshalltown hosted all of the high school state esports tournaments, which allowed me to see the dedication MCC shows,” Jacen says. “What I like best about MCC is that they are very committed to helping people, which is something I value. The reason I chose to be a business management major is because I enjoy the opportunity to help those around me, especially in the customer service world.” Jacen’s advice to students is to take it slow: “College is an important step, but it’s different for everyone. Figuring out which college is right for you takes time, and at the end of the day, you can only try and make the best decision for you.” After MCC, Jacen hopes to transfer to UNI to earn his bachelor’s degree.
