Construction Updates for Ellsworth Campus

Ellsworth Community College is updating the fiber network on campus. This project, part of the bond that voters approved in November 2019, will allow for enhanced network functionality and security, including improvements to the wireless network. The updated fiber plant will enable the District to meet data traffic needs for the next twenty-plus years. This project is part of a larger plan to modernize the District’s network infrastructure and systems.

Creek Enterprises, the fiber installer, will be on campus Tuesday to start pulling new fiber optic cable between buildings.  The installation is being completed in partnership with the Iowa Valley Community College District IT department. Only minimal disruptions are expected due to the upgrade.

Residence Hall Construction Update – Work continues on construction on the Duane and Phyllis Residence Hall, the new residence hall at Ellsworth. The new residence hall will be located on the northern side of campus and will provide dorm-style living for Ellsworth students. The residence hall will have three levels and will feature both single and double occupancy rooms, study spaces, a computer lab, and other amenities. The residence hall is slated to be complete and ready for students to move in for the Fall 2022 semester.

The fiber optics project and new residence hall are two of several bond projects at Ellsworth and throughout Iowa Valley. Community members can visit https://www.iavalley.edu/bond-projects-update/ to keep up to date on progress across the district.
