German Students Visit Ellsworth Community College as Part of Exchange Program
A group of German students from the Bachelor Academy in Sachsen are currently visiting Ellsworth Community College (ECC) as part of a student exchange partnership. The students, accompanied by ECC Ag Instructors Kevin Butt and Dwayne Faidley, are spending several days exploring the Iowa agricultural landscape and learning about the state’s agricultural industry.
The German students began their visit with a tour of dairy farms in northeast Iowa, gaining firsthand experience of the region’s agricultural practices. They then traveled to Iowa Falls, where they will be participating in a variety of activities throughout their stay. While in Iowa Falls, the students will attend classes at the Ag Center, present to current ECC students, and observe local harvest activities. They will also tour the Landus facilities, a leading agricultural cooperative in the region.
On Friday, the students will travel to Des Moines to meet with Representative Sweeney at the Iowa Statehouse, tour LANDUS Innovation Center, tour Kemin Industries, a global leader in animal nutrition, human nutrition, and specialty ingredients. On Saturday, they will visit Iowa State University, one of the nation’s premier agricultural universities, before returning to Chicago to fly back to Germany.
“We are excited to welcome these German students to Ellsworth Community College,” said Kevin Butt, Ag Professor at ECC. “This exchange program provides a valuable opportunity for our students and faculty to connect with international students and learn about different cultures and perspectives.”
